During Your Stay

Preparing for surgery can feel overwhelming or scary if you don’t know what to expect. You may have some unanswered questions and worries that make you feel this way. Knowing what to expect will help you feel less nervous and more in control.

Please bathe or shower prior to your surgery.  Remove all makeup, nail-polish and hair pieces.  Do not use lotions or oils after bathing.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as sweat suits and easy-to-buttons shirts or blouses that are big enough to accommodate a large bandage after surgery.  Wear comfortable shoes; no high heels or flip-flops please.

Leave all valuables, including jewelry and cash, at home. We cannot be responsible for damaged or lost property.

Bring a list of your regular medications with you on the day of surgery, both prescription and nonprescription.

Be prepared to sign a form giving your consent for the operation, if you haven’t already done so at your doctor’s office. If the patient is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the patient and sight the consent form.

Collect all necessary papers from your physician’s office and bring them on the day of your surgery.  If you have a current EKG within 6 months, please bring to your appointment.  Bring all insurance cards and your driver’s license with you to the center. (See the section on insurance and billing.)

Please arrive at your scheduled arrival time . Should you have any questions about your appointment, please contact us immediately at 972-913-7715.

A nurse will provide you with a patient gown, slippers and a bag to store your clothing in.

Your family must wait in the front lobby.  The surgeon will speak with your family immediately following surgery.
